Harold Y. Abernathy, 70, of Route 1, White, died Thursday, November 19, 1987, at an Atlanta hospital. Born October 11, 1917 in Bartow County, Abernathy was the son of the late Walter and Mary Dover Abernathy. He was a retired auto mechanic. Abernathy is survived by his widow, the former Celia Noland, to whom he was married June 22, 1970; one stepson, Jimmy Hackett, of Rydal; three step-daughters, Barbara Cox, of Cartersville, Betty Diddle of Cassville, and Shirley Bryant, of Taylorsville; one sister, Ruth Tidwell, of Cartersville; one brother, Charles Abernathy, of Cartersville; and 14 step-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Kirkland-Jennings Funeral Home after 4 p.m. Thursday. Services are scheduled for Friday, November 20 at 3:30 p.m. in the Kirkland-Jennings Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Norman Fox and Parnick Jennings, Jr. officiating. [NOTES: Father’s full name is John Walter Abernathy. In 1935, Harold was a passenger in a car which crashed, killing his father who was driving.] |
