“Brief Local Items.”

Mr. Wesley Barnes, formerly of this county, but who moved to Sand Mountain, Ala., several years ago, where he was a prosperous farmer, was killed in the road while returning from Rome about two weeks ago, where he sold a load of cotton. No trace of the murderers has been found, but it is thought that he was murdered for the purpose of robbery. Mr. Barnes lived in the seventeenth district while a resident of this county.
