Death of an Estimable Lady.

Mrs. ELIZA AKIN BAXTER, consort of Mr. T. W. Baxter and daughter of Hon. Warren Akin, of this place, after a long and painful illness died on Monday night at 10 o’clock.  Mrs. Baxter was a most estimable lady, idolized by friends and relatives and the community in which she lived, her remains were interred in Oak Hill cemetery on Tuesday afternoon, Rev. A. J. Jarrell, performing the funeral ceremonies. [Another obituary can be found on page 3 of the July 20, 1876 issue which adds the following information: “Eliza Akin Baxter died at her home near Cartersville, Ga., on the 10th inst.  She was the eldest daughter of Col. Warren Akin; was born in Cassville, Ga., April 26th, 1847; was married at her father’s house, in Cartersville, Ga., to Thomas W. Baxter, on the 29th day of November, 1871.”
