Death of Mrs. Black.

Mrs. Sarah Black, a very aged and estimable lady, mother of Gen. George S. Black, of Floyd county, and the grand-mother of our fellow townsmen, John H. and George S. Cobb, died at the residence of her son-in-law H. W. Cobb on Monday night, last at the advanced age of 89 years, having been born at the Golden Grove, Abbeville District, S. C. on the 11th day of January, 1791. If the history of the events of Mrs. Black’s early life were written ‘twould read more like fiction than truth. When she was married at the age of about nineteen years, she moved with her husband to Kentucky, thence to Illinois, and after a year’s residence in that Territory, (it had not been admitted to the union of states) she then moved to Arkansas, and while living in the latter state made two visits to her relatives in South Carolina, accomplishing all of this travel on horseback. She was buried in Oak Hill cemetery, Tuesday evening at four o’clock.
