Joseph, the little three year old son of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Broadwater, was accidentally shot and killed by his sister Jeff, aged nine, Thursday afternoon, September 16th.  The little boy had been in the habit of playing with a revolver and when he cried for it the sister unlocked a trunk where it was kept and gave it to him, not knowing that her father had loaded it that morning, she playfully pulled the trigger, just as the children had done many times before, when to her horror it went off and her brother fell.  The ball entered just below the heart and passed clear through the child’s body and he died a few hours later after great suffering.

The whole family is nearly distraught with grief, for little Jo was the youngest child and the pet of all, while the condition of the sister who caused the tragedy is pitiable.

The funeral took place Friday afternoon, Rev. W. A. Mackey officiating, the interment being in the Kingston cemetery.
