Mrs. Vera Pruitt Chastain, 84, of 1002 N. Tennessee St., Cartersville, died Thursday afternoon, March 18, 1999.

Mrs. Chastain was born on July 23, 1914, in Bartow County, daughter of the late J.E. Pruitt and Ollie Cain Pruitt, was retired from E-Z Mills and was a member of Wofford's Crossroads Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Troy E. Chastain of Cartersville; daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Tommy Chance of Cartersville; grandchildren, Shane Pinson and Summer Chance, both of Cartersville; sisters, Ida Ingram, Catherine Green, Irma Ross and Jewel Hendrix, all of Cartersville; and several nieces, nephews and other family members.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Owen Chapel with the Rev. Keith Dempsey and the Rev. Billy Rabern officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers include Wilburn Epps, Charles Shields, Jerry Ross, Bill Dent, Shane Pinson and James Garmon.

Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Drive, is in charge of the arrangements.
