William Chunn, Pioneer, Passes William S. Chunn, retired rural mail carrier and a member of a pioneer Bartow county family, died early Wednesday morning at a hospital in Middle Georgia. A life-long native of Cassville, he was a steward in the Methodist Church of that community His widow, the former Miss Fannie Sue McTier, is a member of another pioneer family of the county. Mr. Chunn’s parents were the late Samuel Chunn of Cassville and the former Miss Lelia Land of Bartow county. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Owen’s Funeral Home, Cartersville. Pallbearers are Robert Crawford, Harold Tribble, Herman Henderson, W.H. Quillian, Ab Conyers, and Elmo Gilbert. Mr. Chunn is survived by his widow; a brother, Eugene Chunn of Cassville; two sisters, Miss Gertie Chunn of Cassville and Mrs. A.J. Conyers of Atlanta; and several nieces and nephews. Rev. Walter Adams of Cartersville, a life-long friend, will officiate, assisted by Rev. George S. Davis, pastor of the Cassville Methodist Church. Mr. Chunn served for 30 years as a mail carrier from the Cass Station Post Office, retiring in the early ‘30s. |
