Mr. Norman Presley Cox, 95, of Country Creek Road, White, passed away Saturday morning, September 18, 2004, at a local hospital. Mr. Cox was born January 06, 1909, in Bartow County, son of the late John Wesley Cox and Marietta Jones Cox. He was retired from Lockheed after 33 years service and was a retired farmer. He was the oldest living member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Acworth and was a member of the Acworth Masonic Lodge No. 176 F. & A.M. He also helped construct the Allatoona Dam. Mr. Cox was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Beatrice Day Cox; two sons, Jimmy Cox and Glenn Cox; and a brother, Homer Cox. Survivors include his children, Dewey Ray and Marie Cox of Blairsville, Hugh Lee and Mary Cox of White and John W. and Sheila Cox of Acworth; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a sister, Leona Summers of Crossville, Tennessee; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon, September 20, at 2 p.m. at the Owen Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Stanley Wilkins and the Rev. Dewey Cox officiating. Interment will follow in the Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. |
