M. D. Dickerson Dies in Douglas

Former Superior Court Judge M. D. Dickerson, of Douglas, died at his home Sunday and was buried Tuesday in City Cimetery in Douglas.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at St. Andrews Episcopal Church.

Survivors include his wife, the former Ethel Frink; a daughter, Mrs. Berkley Neal, Roanoke, Va.; a son, M. D. Dickerson Jr., of Douglas.

The “Judge” as he has been known for a long time, was 71 years of age.  He had served eight years as judge of Waycross Judicial Circuit and solicitor of the same circuit.

A son of the deceased, the late Will Dickerson, married Mary Pettit of Cartersville.  That family, including their two children, lost their lives in the Winecoff Hotel fire in Atlanta in 1946.
