Kingston. We are pained to announce the death of our friend and neighbor, J. C. Dunlap. He had been sick for several months. He was 62 years old; was born and lived at Staunton, Va., until a few years ago when he moved to Kingston, Ga., and has made this his home ever since, and was truly a good citizen, was an old veteran of the lost cause, had the honorable position of courier on Gen. Lee’s body guard. He leaves a wife—who is now quite sick—and two children, son and daughter, to mourn the loss of a good, affectionate husband and father. The bereaved ones have the sympathies of our entire community in this their hour of sorrow. His remains were laid to rest in the cemetery Sunday evening at 1 o’clock. The ceremonies were very impressively conducted by Rev. J. E. England, pastor of the Methodist church; most of our citizens showing their respect to the deceased by their presence. |
