Miss Lucy Edwards. A Well Known and Beloved Young Lady Dies. Miss Lucy Edwards died at the home of her parents, on Market street, on Saturday night last, at a little after 12 o’clock, of consumption. Although of feeble health for sometime past, Miss Lucy maintained a buoyant spirit, a cheerful mood, and displayed wonderful energy and constant devotion to duty. She was the trusted and efficient bookkeeper of Scheuer’s, the big dry goods store, for some time until she became confined at home by growing feeble a month or more ago. Miss Lucy was a young lady much beloved by all who knew her. She possessed a pure Christian spirit and all her acts were those worthy of emulation. Her unselfish piety and goodness were fit patterns for all wishing to lead Christian lives. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Edwards, and died in her 24th year. Her funeral took place from the Methodist church at 9 o’clock Monday morning, the services being conducted by Rev. Sam Jones, assisted by Rev. B. P. Allen. The remains were interred at Oak Hill cemetery. |
