Marie McClure Gainor, 81, of 360 Mac Johnson Road, Cartersville, died Monday, Dec. 28, 1998.

She was born in Bartow County on May 7, 1917 to the late Homer and Alice Shields McClure.  She was married to the late George Gainor and was retired from Goodyear.

She was also preceded in death by two sons, Robert and Dennis Gainor and a sister, Alene M. Stephens.

Surviving are 12 children and their spouses, Alice and Henry Gordon of Chattanooga, Tenn., Lucille Hardrick of Bridgeport, Ala., Jessie and Tanya Gainor of Dalton, Lillie and Charles Dwight of Dalton, George and Shirley Gainor of Sumter, S.C., Catherine and Bill Rogers of Cartersville, Eleanor and Willie Reynolds of Atlanta, Katie and Jimmy Gainor of Cartersville, Rev. Charles Michael and Gloria Gainor, Wonderful Elaine and Deacon James Green, Rev. Guy Gainor, all of Cartersville, and Shelia and Sgt. Kenny Clark of Panama Canal; a sister, Maybelle Chaney of Dalton; an aunt, Lucille Jewell of Dalton; sister-in-law, Mae Bess Gainor Carter of Cassville; brother-in-law, Tommy Stephens of Kingston; 100 grandchildren; 56 great grandchildren; and 10 great, great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 31, at 2 p.m., at the New Hope Baptist Church in Cassville, with Rev. Larry Ellington, pastor, officiating.  Burial will follow in Cassville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Dec. 30, from 6-7 p.m., at Eppinger's Funeral Home.  The body will lie in state at the church on Thursday, from noon until the hour of the service.

Mack Eppinger and Sons Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.
