Death of David Gay.

Mr. David Gay died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. L. Barron, in this city, last Friday, May 20th, at the advanced age of eight-one years. Mr. Gay was born in Delphi, Delaware county, N. Y., and came south at the age of 21. He was married to Miss M. A. Harbin, of Walesca, Ga., October 5, 1849, and was the father of seven children, of whom only three survive him. These are Mrs. S. E. Brooks, who resides in Texas, Mrs. J. E. Brown, of Rome, and Mrs. A. L. Barron, of this city, with whom he has made his home since the death of his wife two years ago. He was a member of the Presbyterian church and a Mason. He was sick only eight days and passed peacefully away surrounded by his two daughters, Mrs. Barron and Mrs. Brown, and their families, and was entirely conscious to the last. He was buried at Miller’s chapel, near his old home and the funeral services were conducted by Rev. Dr. Roberts.
