The dead body of a negro man was found last Wednesday in Pumpkinvine creek on the farm of Mr. C. M. Jones, five miles from town.  Coroner Mull was notified who forthwith procured a jury.  It was proven that the negro’s name was John Gilbert, and that he attempted to cross the creek in Paulding county on the 15th of last month, and was drowned.
