L. & N. Wreck. A bad wreck occurred on the L. & N. railroad, near Fairmount, Monday morning at about 4 o’clock. Two full freight trains ran together head end and were badly smashed up by the collision. Engineer Hanson was killed outright, as was also Fireman Goodwin. Hanson’s home was at Etowah and Goodwin’s at Marietta. Brakeman Hicks was seriously injured and may not recover. The wreck was one of the worst the road has had since it was built and trains were demoralized for a number of hours. |
