Death of Mr. W. T. Gordon.

Mr. W. T. Gordon died in Rome on Sunday last. He was an ex-resident of Bartow county, being reared at Pine Log. He went to Texas before the war. In that State he volunteered in the service of the Confederacy and showed great valor as a soldier under the intrepid General Hood in Virginia, losing one of his legs in one of the engagements in which his command figured.

After the war he returned to Bartow county, where he lived until a few years ago when he moved to Rome and went into the mercantile business, in which he has been successful. He was a man of sterling integrity and had many friends.

His remains were brought to Cass Station Monday and were thence conveyed to Pine Log where they were interred. A delegation of the leading business men of Rome accompanied the remains and attended the burial.
