A Sad Death.

It is with pain that we chronicle the death of little Laura Ethel the infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Graham and granddaughter of Rev. Sam P. Jones. Her death occurred after a short illness last Sunday afternoon about five o’clock and the funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the residence of Mr. Jones. The services were conducted by Rev. J. S. Hillhouse and Rev. H. J. Ellis. It was an unusually sad service and a very unusual and touching scene was presented when old Father Jones came forward with the burden of near ninety years upon him, to look into the dead face of his grandson’s granddaughter. The little one was only two months old but was a child of rare beauty and promise. The sympathy of the entire community goes out to the bereaved ones.

In Memoriam
Of Laura Bennett Graham, Grandchild of Rev. Sam P. Jones.

Our dear little Laura Ethel Bennett closed her brief life of two months, Dec. the 14th. The angels came and bore our darling to a more congenial clime. Too pure and beautiful for earth, God called her home ere she was tainted by sin or saddened by sorrow. We thank him for the loan of this lovely flower, now transplanted forever in the gardens of Paradise. Beautiful, bright and the “pet” of the household, she had twined herself around our hearts, and the home now seems desolate and lonely. God pity the crushed and broken hearts, bleeding at every pore, and pour in the healing balm.

Good-bye, little darling, good-bye. God hath called thee and thou hast crossed
“Over the river to the meadow sweet
Where the buttercups bloom about thy feet
Over the river in pastures green,
With only the beautiful sky between.”

“Over the river our dear little girl
Hath opened the mystic gates of pearl,
Forever and forever in the home of the blest,
Oh radiant joy! Oh Beautiful rest!”

---A.
