Mrs. Della Guyton Died Wednesday After Long Illness

Funeral services for Mrs. Della Guyton, 58, one of Bartow County’s most beloved matrons, who died at her home near Cartersville Wednesday following a long illness, were conducted Thursday morning at 11 o’clock from Rowland Springs church.   Interment was in the church cemetery, Rev. R.N. Banks officiating.

In failing health for some months, Mrs. Guyton had grown steadily weaker since the death of her beloved husband, “Uncle Bill” Guyton in late January.   Friends throughout the county mourn her passing.

A daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Abernathy, well-known pioneers, Mrs. Guyton was born in Bartow County on November 23, 1880, and had made her home here all her life.  A devoted wife, mother and friend, she numbered her friends by her acquaintances and her passing leaves an empty void in the hearts of many.

Besides an adopted daughter, Mrs. Annie Laura Lewis, she is survived by four brothers Messrs. Bartow, John, Marion and Andrew Abernathy, all of this county; eight sisters; Mrs. Etta Jones and Mrs. Nancy Hite, of Acworth; Mrs. Bertha Osborne of Cave Spring; Mrs. Nellie Summey and Mrs. Minnie Bivins of Cartersville; Mrs. Margaret Goddard, Mrs. Sara Parker, and Mrs. Ruth Cox of Canton.

Friends extend tenderest sympathy to members of the bereaved family.
