Death of a Promising Young Man. Henry Hammond, son of Mr. Peter Hammond, died at his home near Stilesboro, on Friday, the 26th of November last. The deceased was born and reared in this county and was about 29 years old. He was a young man of exceptional fine qualities, and was devotedly loved by a large circle of friends. He was a member of Brandon’s Chapel and was consistent and conscientious in his every walk and relation in life. Just before his death he repeated over and over again to his stricken father, “All is right with me, all is right!” The only regret that he expressed in dying was leaving his devoted wife and little child, and the other beloved members of his family. He had been married only two years. The death of such a man is always a source of profound regret and grief. He was an upright, courageous, honest, energetic Christian gentleman of rare traits and purposes, and accepting his own implicit faith his loved ones feel that he now enjoys that heavenly rest promised all such mortals. |
