Kingston. Ruffin Hayes, a worthy colored man, died Sunday night at 7 o’clock at Cement, near Kingston, after a few days of intense suffering. He was highly respected by everybody, white and black. Col. G. H. Waring stated to me he had been in his employ for twenty-one years and that he was honest, truthful and faithful and provided well for his family. His death has cast a gloom over our entire community. Truly a good citizen has passed over the river. |
