Rance Hilburn’s Fatal Accident.
[Cedartown Advertiser,]

During the first shower last Saturday morning the guards of the squad of convicts who are raising ore near this place took them into an old shop close by till the rain should cease.  While waiting there, the gun of a guard, Rance Hillburn, was accidentally discharged, killing him instantly.  He was standing with the breech of the gun resting upon an anvil when it slipped off and in falling discharged itself into his breast, with the result as stated.  The deceased was a citizen of Bartow county and had been her for some months with his brothers in the service of Mr. N. S. Eaves.  He was buried at our town cemetery Sunday morning.  His relatives and friends are deeply shocked by his sudden and terrible death.
