Mr. John P. Hood died at his residence at Hoodtown near Yorkville, S. C., on Tuesday last, aged about 75 years.  Mr. Hood had been confined to his bed for several weeks with a lingering illness.  He was known for many years as one of the most enterprising citizens of his section.  He was a prosperous farmer and had also been quite successful as a merchant.  The deceased was an uncle of William H. Hood, of this county, and lived here himself for years, and left a considerable amount of property in this section.
