A Good Old Darkey Gone.

Uncle Peter Jones died at his home near “Valley View,” last Friday. Uncle Peter was one of the best colored citizens of the county.  He went to work with energy and good common sense just after emancipation and by his efforts bought him a farm which, with the same well stocked, he owned without encumbrance at the time of his death.  He was always honest in his dealings and won and held the good will of the white citizens who knew him.  He was 76 years old.
