Rev. W. E. Jones died in Milledgeville Sunday of paralysis.  He was a brother of the late Col. R. H. Jones, and went out in company G. in the 23rd Ga. regiment as a private in August, 1861.  The following fall he was appointed chaplain of the regiment and held the place until ’63 when he was transferred to Phillips’ Legion, cavalry, of which command he was captain until the surrender.  He was about 65 years old.  His remains were interred in Atlanta.
