Joe P. Kay, 77, of 204 Fite St., Cartersville, died Monday, December 30 at Humana Hospital-Cartersville following an extended illness. Kay was born December 6, 1908 in Bartow County, the son of the late Oscar Franklin Kay and Lula Estelle Cornwell. He was a carpenter, a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy and was of the Baptist faith. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 2, from the chapel of the Kirkland-Jennings Funeral Home with the Rev. John Yarbrough officiating. Interment will follow in Taylorsville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Kirkland-Jennings Funeral Home after 5 p.m. Tuesday. Pallbearers are asked to meet at Kirkland-Jennings Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. Thursday. They are Eugene Buford, George Buford, David Paul, Tony Atchley, Wayne Aiken and Oscar Frank Kay. |
