Death of Mr. W. S. Latta.

Mr. William S. Latta one of the oldest and most respected citizens of Cartersville died at his residence in this city last Sunday night at eleven o’clock. Mr. Latta was born in Orange county, N. C. in the year 1805, and was at the time of his death a little more than eighty seven years of age. He was a man of great vigor of mind and body and until a few months ago led a very active and industrious life. Last March he had a sudden and severe attack of illness from which he never fully recovered. His death last Sunday was very peaceful and quiet.

He had been a resident of Cartersville about twenty years and had many friends here by whom he will be greatly missed. He leaves a wife and daughter and two sons.

His eldest son Wm. P. Latta lives in Kentucky and the younger son Geo. G. Latta in Hot Springs Arkansas. Mr. Latta was a devoted member of the Episcopal church, a conscientious Christian, a genial friend and a worthy man in every way.
