John W. Leachman, 84, of Morningside Drive, Cartersville, died Monday, Dec. 14, 1998.

Mr. Leachman was born March 3, 1914 in Bartow County, a son of the late B.F. Leachman and Fannie Smith Leachman, was a member of the Rowland Springs Baptist Church and was retired from the Lockheed Aircraft Corporation.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Watkins Leachman, one daughter, Johnette Brackett of Cartersville, grandchildren, Holly Ellenburg, Jim and Leeann Ellenburg, great-grandchildren, Kaylin and Candler Ellenburg, two sisters, Jo Ann Cochran of Smyrna, Louise Dysart of Cartersville, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16 from the chapel of the Owen Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Harris officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dwight Vaughan, Larry Vaughan, Don Ellenburg, Jim Ellenburg, Gene Groleau and E.W. (Dub) Hicks.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association, P.O. Box 1839, Dalton, GA 30722.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Drive, is in charge of the arrangements.
