Mrs. Jewel Abernathy Leekstra, 78, Rome Route 2, died Thursday at her residence.

Mrs. Leekstra was born June 3, 1904 in Bartow County, daughter of the late Elihue Abernathy and Nancy Young Abernathy.   She had spent the great part of her life in Bartow County.  She was a member of the Sunny Side Baptist church.  She was preceded in death by her husband Simon Leekstra, July 15, 1977.

Survivors include nine nieces and eight nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. at the Mount Carmel Methodist church with the Revs. Max Carver and V.T. Wesley officiating.   Interment will be at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Mrs. Jewell Abernathy Leekstra, 78, of Route 2, Rome, died Thursday, February 03, 1983, at her residence.

She was born in Bartow County, June 3, 1904, a daughter of the late Elihue and Nancy Young Abernathy.  She had spent the greater part of her life here and was a member of Sunnyside Baptist Church.

Survivors include ten nieces and eight nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 6, 1983, at Mount Carmel Methodist church, with the Revs Max Carver and V.T. Wesley officiating.  Interment was in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were David Benson, Daniel Benson, George L. Benson, Lipscomb, Larry Lipscomb, Wayne Baxter and Leslie Jones.
