Death of Mrs. Leland.

A Good Lady Passes Away Tuesday Morning.

Mrs. Agnes Leland died at the home of her son-in-law, Mr. A. D. Gilbert, in this city, on Tuesday morning at five o’clock.

Mrs. Leland received a stroke of paralysis several months ago from which she took her bed, and though at times she seemed to be better and gave signs of rallying, her condition grew gradually worse, until death ended her sufferings.

Mrs. Leland was a good woman, useful to her church and to society and possessed many friends. Her fine character and good works will live after her to light the way of those who would move in the path of rectitude.

She was the wife of the late lamented Dr. Samuel Leland who was a man of finest humor and with it possessed a power of discernment and intellectuality equaling that of the most prominent Georgians. He was a physician of much skill and as an agriculturist was a great success and ranked high in the counsels of the leaders in that noble occupation in Georgia. He preceded Mrs. Leland in death about twelve years.

Mrs. Leland had but one child, Mrs. A. D. Gilbert, who survives her.

The funeral took place from the Presbyterian church yesterday morning at ten o’clock, Rev. E. M. Craig officiating. A large concourse of friends followed the remains to their last resting place, the burial taking place at Oak Hill cemetery.
