Tribute of respect.

Geo. M. Manning was born July 17 th, 1837, and died May 19 th, 1892. A mason about 22 years.

We the undersigned committee appointed by lodge No. 168 F. & A. M., at Adairsville, GA. To prepare resolutions upon the death of our dearly beloved brother, respectfully submit the following tribute:

Whereas, It has pleased Almighty God the Great Architect of the universe, the giver of all life, to remove from our midst on May 19 th, 1892, our beloved brother, G. M. Manning, and while we feel from the evidence set forth in this life of faith, brotherly love and charity that our loss is his eternal gain,

Resolved, 1. In the depth of Bro. Manning our loss cannot be estimated for he was a most consistent member of our lodge.

Resolved, 2. To know Bro. Manning was to love him, because he possessed the jewel consistency, acted upon the square, walked the plumb-line and kept his passions in due bounds.

Resolved 3. That we tender to his widow and family our heartfelt sympathy, praying that the all-seeing eye may ever watch over them, that His arm of protection may ever be around them and His merciful providence may ever be toward them.

Resolved, 4. That a copy of this tribute be published in our county paper and a copy be furnished the family, and a page on the lodge records be dedicated to his memory.

He in death slumbers, we yet alive;

He freed from labor, we yet to strive;

He paid and joyful, we tried and sad;

What then to us brother, bindeth the dead,

This the great covenant in which we abide,

Hearts charged with sympathy, hands open wide,

Lips full of comfort and God to provide.

W, J, King, G. A. Veach, R. D. Combs, J. A. Price.
