Mrs. Amelia Massengale, while celebrating her eightieth anniversary on the 28th of February, was suddenly taken ill at 6 p. m. and died at 7:30. She has made her home for many years with Mrs. Rainey. She was celebrating her birthday and had received some nice presents that day; a friend in Washington, D. C., sent her five dollars. She told her friends not to grieve, she was going home to be free from pain and sorrow and was perfectly willing to depart. Rev. J. E. England officiated at the funeral on the 2d of March.
