“Cass Station.” The many friends of Miss Kitty Mays, of Florida, will regret to learn of her death, which occurred at the residence of her brother, Mr. J. F. Mays, in Augusta, Ga., on Friday, March 26th, ten minutes before six o’clock p. m. She visited the family of Mrs. R. H. Walton in the summers of ’95 and ’96, and she greatly endeared herself to those she met, and was a young lady of excellent Christian character. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her. She had consumption, which with all in pain and suffering, she bore with patience and submission to God. She was the only surviving daughter of Capt. S. E. Mays, of Peru, Fla. Which his old friends at Kingston will remember, used to live there in ’74 and ’75. She leaves three brothers and a father to mourn her loss. Her remains were interred in the Augusta cemetery, followed by loving relatives and friends, Rev. J. H. Mashburn conducting the funeral services. She peacefully sleeps Beneath yon sod; Her spirit has wafted Its way to God. It’s way so clear To those portals on high, Where loved ones, she met, In that sweet by and by. |
