Effie Mae Mullinax, 79, of Opal St., Cartersville, died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 1998.

Mrs. Mullinax was born June 12, 1919 in North Carolina, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel McDaniel Garland Jr., was a housewife and a member of New Covenant Church.   She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Buster and Clay Garland and two sisters, Parris Garland and Candie Smith.

She is survived by children, Joyce and Clyde Crocker, James and Betty Mullinax, Johnny Mullinax, Brenda and Charles Hudson, Lamar and Shelia Mullinax, Haden Mullinax, Shirley and Michael Abernathy, Jimmy Mullinax, all of Cartersville, Charles Mullinax of Rockmart, Tony and Vickie Mullinax of Eldarado, AR, grandchildren, Eddie, Jonathon, Paul, Danny, Tammy, Randy, Steve, Kevin, Bobby, Jason, Matthew, Josh, Candace, Rekay, Cody, and Jamie Mullinax, Clay and Carlos Abernathy, Amanda Cameron, Christy McDonald, Stacy Hamilton, George Brock, Cynthia Free, Dary Crocker, 24 great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters, Boyd, Wiley, Enloe, Monroe, and M. Garland, Lonie and Evie Sosebee, Eula Bennett, Elvie Graham, Mae Webster, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 24, 2:30 p.m. from the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Lee and the Rev. Mike Abernathy officiating.  Interment will follow in Oak Hill Baptist Church cemetery in Rydal.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, Dec. 23 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Owen Funeral Home.

Grandsons, Eddie, Kevin, Randal, Steve and Danny Mullinax, Clay and Carlos Abernathy, Israel Free, and James McDonald will serve as pallbearers.

Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Drive, Cartersville, is in charge of the arrangements.
