“Dalton and Vicinity.” Mr. BARTOW NICHOLLS, a bright, good natured lad, died last week of heart disease. ******************** October 17, 1878 In Memoriam. Died, at the residence of Mrs. J. A. Nichols, in Dalton, Oct. 2nd, 1878, Mr. FRANCIS BARTOW NICHOLS, in the 18th year of his age. He was the eldest son of his widowed mother, and, after her, the chief stay of the household. Affectionate, obliging and dutiful, he watched the interest of her family with a prudence and assiduity uncommon to one of his years. Marked by obedience, steadiness, industry, sobriety and remarkable patience under protracted and painful illness, his life presents an example worthy to be followed alike by old and young. He was a pious and consistent member of the Methodist church and died exhibiting an unfaltering trust in Jesus as the Savior of mankind, and rejoicing in the hope of acceptance in Heaven. His body, cold and lifeless, lies hid from our view, but the memory of Francis Bartow is embalmed in the hearts of his mourning relatives, and of all his companions and acquaintances capable of appreciating his exalted work.
