“ Bartow County”

“ Kingston.”

Last Sunday some little boys in passing through a field near Taylor’s ferry found the body of a dead Negro man. The boys went at once and told what they had found. Some of the neighbors assembled and going to the spot, found a man forty-five years old dead. Mr. Geemes went at once to Kingston and requested J. W. McKelvey to send a message to Coroner Patterson who came on Monday, held an inquest and the jury found from the appearance of the deceased that he had frozen to death at the time of the last snow. They found on his person three dollars and sixty-eight cents. He was not identified. He was buried near where he was found. I learn that a man answering to the description was set across the river at Taylor’s ferry one evening during the snow. He was a stranger and doubtless the same one.
