Our community was greatly distressed for Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Oglesby in their loss by the sad death of their precious little daughter Bessie, fourteen months old, and the only daughter.  Mrs. Oglesby and little Bessie and the oldest son were in Waynesville, N. C., and Mrs. Florence Lumpkin and the rest of the family were with Mrs. H. F. Crawford, the mother of Mrs. Oglesby and Mrs. Lumpkin.  Hugh, the little boy about four years old, was taken very sick and Mrs. Oglesby was hastily summoned and came at once and the little boy, with kind attentions, began to improve and bids fair to recover.  On the 27th of August little Bessie was taken mortally with dysentery and died on the 31st.  The body was embalmed and left here at 5:30 p. m., September 1st, in Mr. Oglesby’s private car, for the home at Quitman, Ga.  The entire community is grieved and tender their sympathies to the bereaved parents in the death of their little darling, who is now at rest in the arms of Jesus, who has said “suffer little children to come unto me and forbid them not, for of such is the Kingdom of Heaven.”

Drs. J. P. Bowain and Harbin did all that medical skill could do, but death claimed the little sufferer.
