Mr. Hiram Pettit, aged 83 years, died on last Friday at the home of Mr. Herman Clayton, in Floyd County.  The deceased was an uncle of Col. J. J. Howard, with whom he made his home for a number of years.  He was a good man and a consistent, loyal Christian.  His remains were brought to Cartersville and interred at Oak Hill cemetery, last Saturday.
