Mrs. C.D. Pope Dies at Kingston, Rites at Mt. Pisgah

Mrs. C.D. Pope, age 72, passed away at her home in Kingston early Thursday following a lingering illness.

The deceased is survived by her husband, three daughters: Mrs. E.H. Hubbard, Adairsville; Mrs. Ralph Cook, Cartersville; Mrs. Dewey White, Bremen; three sons: Lucius Pope, Odie Pope, James Pope, Cartersville; four sisters: Mrs. Eli Gentry, Pine Log; Mrs. Joe Bailey and Mrs. Jewel Cochran, Calhoun; Mrs. Ethel Abernathy, Cartersville; a large number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The body lay in state at the Mt. Pisgah Church from 1:30 until time for the funeral which was conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday by Rev. Manuel Shook and Rev. E.C. Chatham, Jr.

Serving as pallbearers were Neal Moore, Bryant Moore, Albert Earl Stone, R.C. Hubbard, Jack Jackson and Clyde Teems.

Interment was in the church cemetery.

[NOTES: Alba was the daughter of Elihu Tinsley Abernathy and Nancy Elizabeth Young.  Her husband was Calvin (Cabe) D. Pope.
Daughters: Mrs. Eugene Hubbard is Mina (Minnie) Pope, Mrs. Ralph Cook is Ruby Pope.
Sister: Mrs. Eli Gentry is Julia Abernathy.]
