Shirley Mills Martin Roper, 77, of Burnt Hickory Road, Cartersville, died Monday, Dec. 28, 1998. Mrs. Roper was born June 16, 1921, in Green County, Tennessee, a daughter of Edward Pierce Mills and Lucinda Turner Mills, and was a retired photographer. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Belles and Beaus Square Dance Club of Cartersville and Levis and Lace Square Dance Club of Woodstock. Surviving are her husband, Robert (Hal) Roper of Cartersville, a daughter, Alice Martino of Cartersville, four sons, Joe Martin of Newark, California, Steve Trimmier of Knoxville, Tennessee, Ken L. Martin of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Stephen Martin of Savannah, seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, sisters, Charlotte Berry of Charlotte, North Carolina, Audrey Allen of Lexington, Kentucky and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 31 at 11 a.m. from the Sunrise Chapel in Arlington Cemetery with the Rev. Ted Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6 until 8. Pallbearers will be Joe Martin, Steve Trimmier, Ken L. Martin, Stephen Martin, Roy Berry and Steve Allen.
