Col. J. B. Ross, one of the most successful merchants of Macon, who died in that city last week, was the father of Mrs. Dr. J. Dickson Smith, of this place. Dr. and Mrs. Smith and her two sisters, who were spending the summer in Cartersville, arrived in Macon on Tuesday morning and found their father unconscious, in which state he remained until Wednesday morning, at which time he died. The funeral took place Thursday morning, and was attended by a very large concourse of citizens. Col. Ross’ death is greatly lamented wherever he was known. |
