Death of Mrs. Mary Shepherd.

This venerable lady, relict of the late John W. Shepherd, died on Tuesday last, at the residence of John H. Wikle, Esq., of this place.  Several weeks ago Mrs. Shepherd was thrown from her buggy and had an arm broken, since which time she has been confined to her room, but no such serious thing as death was expected, and it was with great surprise that the community received the news of her death.  Mrs. Shepherd was born in Morgan county, and married in Troup, and at the time of her death was fifty-five years of age.  She leaves six children, Mrs. Shropshire and Mrs. Wilkins, of Atlanta, Mrs. Ramsaur, of Fairmount, Mrs. John H. Wikle and Dr. J. T. Shepherd, of this place, and a young daughter about twelve years of age.  She was a sister of Mr. A. A. Skinner.  Her remains were interred in Oak Hill Cemetery at three o’clock yesterday afternoon.

Three funerals were transpiring at the cemetery last Sunday afternoon at the same time.
