Sam Smith, a colored brakeman on the Selma, Rome and Dalton Railroad, who lived in Rome, was instantly killed last Friday at Patona, Ala., by being run over by a car. “He was,” says the Courier, “engaged in coupling or uncoupling two cars of a train, and made a misstep and fell, with his neck across the rail. The wheel of the car severed his head from his body.” |
