Obituary. Died, near Blacksville, Cass county, Ga. on the 27th of June, after a long illness, Mrs. CHARLOTTE SPENCE, wife of Wm. C. Spence, and daughter of Mr. John and Mrs. Elizabeth Henderson. The writer of this has often stood by the couch of dying mortality, and has been an eye witness to many dying scenes, but has never before witnessed a scene so fraught with the sublimity of the truth of Christian religion as was manifested on the dying bed of the deceased. She united herself to the Baptist Church a few years since, and was always found trying to live a Christian life, up to her death. She had just completed her 24th year. When death fell savagely on his bonded debtor and carried her with him to the grave. Oh death! What art thou? A lawgiver, that never altereth: fixing the consummating seal, whereby the deeds of life become established: out of season as in season, with the sickle in hand, elaborating life’s elixirs from these clayey crucibles. Only a short time before she died, she called each member of the family to her dying couch, and talked as dying Christians only can talk. She admonished them all to live the life of the righteous, and to meet her in Heaven; and when she had finished these sentences she bid us all farewell, and then her spirit was loosed from this body of dust, and wafted safely home to Heaven.
