“Brief Local Items.”

Mrs. C. P. ball, her daughters, Mrs. Stratford and Miss Mary S. Ball, and Master Edward Stratford, of Montgomery, Ala., who have been for a month or so guests at the Shelman, returned home last week, on hearing of the illness of Mr. Stratford. He died Sunday night. His disease was malarial fever. Col. Ball, who was visiting New York, was telegraphed and was at his son-in-law’s bedside when he died.
