Jeff Terry Killed In a Well.

[Canton Advance.]

A very tragic death occurred at the place where Willis Howard lives, near Hickory Flat, on Thursday of last week.  Jeff Terrey was down in a well cleaning it out, when the well caved in and covered in and covered Terrey under about two feet of earth.  The well was about 60 feet deep and, it seems under the excitement, no one could be induced to go down in the well and remove the dirt which had fallen and buried the man alive, until Friday morning, when Jesse Cox went down and succeeded in bringing the lifeless body from the well.  The body was still warm when taken from the well fifteen hours after the caving in occurred, and how long Terry lived under the ground will never be known, but it must have been a most horrible death.  The deceased was about fifty years old and had lived near Hickory Flat for a number of years.  A wife and two children survive him.

[Both spellings Terry and Terrey occur in this article.]
