Mack Thomas, 61, of Cartersville, died on Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998, after battling lung cancer and complications. He was retired from Lockheed and a member of the Cartersville Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Thomas; his mother, Mary Collum Thomas; his mother-in-law, Martha Womack; and foster family, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Tant, J.C., R.L. and Billy Joe Tant, all of Cartersville. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Elaine Hart Thomas of Cartersville; daughter, Traci Thomas of Cartersville; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Mike Borkowsky of Cartersville; daughter, Tina Shouppe of North Carolina; one grandson, Thomas Shouppe of North Carolina; three sisters, Elizabeth Elrod of Cartersville, Wylene Powell of Winder, Ga., and Virginia Weathersby of Augusta, Ga.; brother and sister-in-law, Donnie and Peggy Womack of Cartersville; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 2, at 2 p.m. at the Parnick Jennings Funeral Home Chapel with Bobby Gayton officiating. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday. Pallbearers will be announced later. Parnick Jennings Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
