In Memory of Charlie Thomas and Leila McCandless. Death, the angel with silent tread, has recently visited our society and borne from us two of our members, Mr. Charlie Thomas and Miss Leila McCandless. They were both faithful members of our society in heart. Charlie was always with us until he was confined at his home; and although Leila could not be with us in person for many months before she died, yet we knew that she was in heart. While it seems strange to us that they were snatched away so young, with their work unfinished and life’s brightest and best promises unfulfilled, we know God’s will is best and calmly bow to this dispensation of His will. Although we are deprived of their work here with us, who knows but what they are together, engaged in a greater and a more glorious work in our Savior’s presence. Let us keep their memory fresh and green and endeavor to profit by their lives of Christian beauty, uprightness and usefulness. Therefore , be it |
