Death of Mr. J. M. Todd

Mr. J. M. Todd passed away at his home on Erwin street at 4 o’clock lat Tuesday morning. His last illness was of about six weeks’ duration though he had been practically an invalid for years, his iron will and love for business activity keeping him up.

He was born in 1822 and hence was 72 years of age. He moved to Cartersville from Chattanooga in 1871, and has run a small mercantile business ever since. He was a while ago a member of the board of directors of the First National bank. He was a man of kind heart, thoroughly honest and had been a member of the Baptist church for forty-odd years.

He leaves a wife and one daughter, Mrs. J. A. Trawick, and an adopted son, Mr.. Ed Todd, of Rockmart to mourn his demise.

The funeral took place from the residence at 8 o’clock on yesterday morning, Revs. W. R. Briscoe and E. D. McDougal, officiating.
