“Bufford.” [Whole section transcribed]

Mr. John Vernon died Friday, 17 th inst., at the home of his son Mr. Frank Vernon, near here. Mr. Vernon was born in South Carolina nearly ninety years ago. He has lived many years in Georgia. He leaves a number if children, among them Messrs. F. D. Vernon, of this county, and J. G. Vernon, formerly of Cassville but now of Calhoun. His remains were buried Sunday the services being conducted by his pastor, Rev. Mr. Mann, of the Cumberland Presbyterian church.

He will be sadly missed by kindred and friends. He was a good man, who loved God and served him daily. Earth hath one mortal less and heaven one spirit more.
