Mrs. Elizabeth Watkins. Death of One of Cartersville’s Oldest Citizens. On Thursday evening last Mrs. Elizabeth Watkins died at her home, in this city, at the advanced age of seventy-eight years. Mrs. Watkins has been a citizen of this county for a number of years, and has reared a large family of children. She was a faithful member of the Methodist church, a kind and affectionate wife and mother, and was greatly beloved by all who knew her. Her husband, Mr. M. M. Watkins, preceded her to the grave about four years ago. Her children are F. C., and T. D. Watkins, Miss Easter Watkins, Mrs. W. M. Smith, of this city; Mr. A. B. Watkins and Mrs. Ella Dowdle, of Rome; Mrs. Mary Luke, of Adairsville; Mr. J. W. G. Watkins and Mrs. S. T. Watters, of Atlanta. The funeral services were conducted from the house by Rev. A. J. Jarrett, and Rev. E. D. McDougal on Friday evening and the burial took place at Oak Hill cemetery. A good woman has gone to her reward. |
